Follow These 7 Steps to Promote Your Daycare, Preschool or Child Care Center
Marketing your child care company is vital. You need to know how to promote your childcare business whether you own a daycare, preschool, or child care center.
1) Create a Magnetic Website
Your website is your gateway to new families. Your website is the place where you introduce yourself to new parents every day.
But your website is only useful if it’s attractive – and by that, I mean, it needs to attract parents.

2) Use Social Media
To promote your daycare or preschool, these days you need to be active on social media.
According to Bright.com, fully 90% of moms like to socialize with other moms, so a great way to get in touch with moms is to join Facebook. If you’re not on it already, this social media platform is free to join, and you can use it to network with other parents and post messages and pictures of your daycare’s activities.
Whichever platform you use (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn – or even TikTok!) start by connecting with other parents and employers. Once you build a solid and supportive network, you can utilize the platform to promote your daycare to new parents.
You can also promote through Pinterest – one of the most popular websites these days! In fact, according to a survey conducted by Statistic Brain, 67% of users use Pinterest to find inspiration.
A significant social media presence is an excellent way to grow your online brand.
3) Promote via Word-of-Mouth
Being successful with your daycare business relies on good referrals and word-of-mouth advertising. You may need to remind parents how important their child care business is to their children’s well-being, as well as their own.
It never hurts to ask a happy parent for a referral – “Do you know any other moms who might be looking for a place?”
Write a post on your website that encourages people to share your details and their experience of how valuable your services are.
Ask parents to share you via social media Many parents post about the good things that their daycare is doing for them.
As long as your daycare is transparent and upfront with parents, they will understand and see its value.
4) Write a Guest Blog Post
Google loves it when another blog site links back to yours.
To write a post for someone else’s blog, you first need to find a blog that would want you as a writer! Start by searching Google for terms like:
“daycare” + “write for us”
“daycare” + “guest post/blogging guidelines”
“daycare” + “contribute”
(Be sure to include the quotes!)
Searching for these specific terms will help you find a site that actively looks for relevant content. This exercise aims to increase your school’s authority, so it’s critical you make your guest post exciting and relevant.
A link back to your website or your social media profile is all that’s needed for Google to take notice and “know” this is you.
Find a list of upcoming and current sites (blogs, social media, review sites, etc.) where there is a general need for guest posts. Once you find one, send them an email requesting to be a guest. Say something about your school’s brand that makes sense to them. Explain that you have a child care business and you focus on education and nurturing young children.
5) Fully Utilize Google My Business
One of the best ways to market your daycare, preschool, or child care center is to improve your info on the Google My Business tool.
Why are Google My Business and Google Maps So Important?
- 46% of all Google search is local.
- 93% of those include Google My Business
- – and
- 70% of those are on Google Maps.
What’s more, Google keeps adding more and more tools that let customers engage with you directly from Google My Business – so it can be a great way of starting the conversation.
To boost your ranking on all these local searches:
- Begin with first claiming your page.
- Improve the information on your Google My Business Page.
- Fill out every section and include relevant images.
Ensure you fill out (or correct) addresses, hours of operation, and the services you provide.
6) Encourage Parents to Leave Reviews
One of the easiest ways to promote your business to new parents is to encourage existing parents to leave reviews. A majority of parents today read reviews about daycare centers.
Strong reviews are the perfect way to show new parents that you are a responsible business owner that cares about the children who attend your daycare. When they leave reviews for you, it will have a massive impact on your business.
When parents trust your business, it will impact them, which they will be happy to show your clients.
When you have strong reviews, Google will trust your business too – and you’ll find you automatically start rising up those rankings.
7) Paid Advertisements
Location is crucial when advertising your daycare.
Are there daycare parents in your area? Is there a food store that they frequent and where you could advertise? Or are there employers near your school?
Don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Wherever your children’s parents go, your company should be there.
Google Ads is a pay-per-click (PPC) advertising platform developed by Google. You only pay when someone clicks on your advertisements and visits your site.
One of the advantages of using Google Ads to promote your daycare is it enables geo-targeting and precise keyword targeting.
Keywords are the terms that your clients type into Google while looking for information about your industry (in your case: child care).
Suppose you have a preschool in Orlando, for example. Tow of the most popular search term for our industry are “daycare” and “child care”∴In that case, you can conduct keyword research using the terms “daycare in Orlando” and “child care in Orlando” and then incorporate these terms into the content of your ad, in addition to using them as target keywords.
Your ad will appear on the first page of Google for anyone looking for childcare in Orlando. You don’t have to pay unless they visit your website.
When searching for keywords, look for keywords with a medium level of traffic. Google also provides automatic suggestions. These are a bit hit or miss, so do your homework first and determine what will work best for your school. Although ‘daycare furniture’ is a popular search term, it won’t help you find parents looking for child care!
